Celebrations at sanctuary over the years…
Besides sharing the land of Sanctuary with our friends and family, over time other rituals have developed. After the arrival and erection of the tipi, the medicine wheel was officially opened and dedicated. This naturally brought a whole new community of people. The medicine wheel is now celebrating its 18th year of operation. Ceremony is done at the change of every season on the actual day of the change. Invitations are sent to specific people and they come. They have been coming every year. Now ceremony is more formal and we have presenters who are very knowledgeable so our guest leaves very enlightened after their participation in our events.
Other new celebrations have developed as well. A drumming circle was formed with the intention of having people able to sing and drum at the medicine wheel for ceremony. The drum circle gathers the first Monday of each month. As of this writing, the heartbeat drummers have celebrated 219 consecutive months of drumming and singing together. Naturally, members of the group have come and gone but the circle keeps on going. Again, another blessing.
At the drumming sessions a CD was recorded. What a blast we had doing that. There’s still a few left if anyone is interested. We did a songbook to accompany the CD. Check it out, we think we’re hot.
Coming in the not too distant future, there will be a Reiki share in the Medicine Wheel after the Summer Solstice celebration. Stay tuned for a firm date.
