Healing on the Land of Sanctuary…

Sanctuary has always been a healing space ever since we first moved in back in the 70’s. People who enter the fenced area often stop, take a deep breath, and then smile and say how peaceful they immediately feel. We just smile and say welcome.

Since Loki has been doing Reiki healing work for the past 20 years, lots of special “healing spaces” have been cultivated. Reiki in the tipi, with its natural womb shape, makes Reiki sessions even more powerful because of the healing space and being outside on the land. Receivers often request the tipi space during the warm weather in Maryland.

In some of the photos of the herb garden and the “healing tubs” you will note a new art design on the tubs. They are truly healing when the temperatures rise. Since we do not have central air conditioning, the water quickly cools your emotions and your body temperature. Having a glass of wine makes it all that much nicer.

The “healing pond” area is extra special, especially to Loki as she loves the water.  She sits at the pond every night and plays her flute and and waits for the magic to begin. She knows every species of whatever is inhabiting the water at that time of day or evening. Loki often encourages others to share in her enthusiasm but few follow suit. They prefer to sit on the deck and smile at what Loki is describing. That is why sometimes folks call Loki by her nick-name, Scout.
